    Author

Gordon MacLeod, born in 1967, was raised on the Isle of Arran in Scotland.
He now lives in Merseyside with his wife Tanya.

He wrote his first novel in 1996.
His fifth novel, 'Carrot Toppers', was published in Paperback and on Kindle in 2016.
In June 2017 he released in paperback three Plays, '44(1)(b)', 'Absent Friends', and 'Where Did All The Flowers Come From?' as well as 'Molios', a Screenplay, and, 'On the Breadline', a short Radio Drama, in one volume, titled 'Arran Dramas'.

Gordon's early novels and a short story are based on the island of Arran where he grew up. His dramatic work is also set on the island.
Also featured in his early novels are many of his other favourite locations, like the Isle of Raasay which he views as his ancestral home, and other picturesque places across the Highlands of Scotland.
He communicates a deep respect for these environments, and recounts much of the history that has impacted upon them, in his early novels.
Although the genre of the early novels was Adventure, there are much more serious underlying themes to be detected in his works by the more discerning reader, including environmental concern, migration, devolution and independence, cultural diversity, inhumane and degrading treatment, and prejudice and intolerance.
In his later novels he takes some of these themes one step further with a more in-depth look at discrimination and the impact of poverty on people's lives. One of his Plays is a polemic against the  unchecked power of professionals.

Throughout his works, the features of Arran can often be found personified in some of the characters, and it is the beauty of that island in his earlier and dramatic works that he seems to draw the reader to, time and time again.
It is apparent that this small island in the Firth of Clyde, off the West Coast of Scotland, has been the inspiration behind much of his writing.
